If you have been following me for a while you might know I am a fan of the no-makeup make-up look. I like that, my skin but better kinda look. I am a skin-like finish kinda gal. I feel like since that faithful day that my Bourjois healthy mix serum was discontinued, I have been on a never-ending search. Let's face it the beauty market has exploded over the last 10 years and we can all get a bit overwhelmed with the constant new launches and new brands and that's why you have me. I go out of my way to test the product so you get the actual and honest facts about the product and how it works. Well on my skin anyways.
Today, I’m finally sharing my full review of the Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation. You know I had to give this one a try, the hype was insane and let’s be real anything by Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez would catch my attention this brand is on fire at the moment.
What Makes Rare Beauty's Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation Stand Out?
This foundation isn’t just hype. It’s got a smooth-glide, serum-like formula that feels like nothing on the skin. The biggest win for me? It’s buildable medium coverage that actually looks natural. Plus, the texture, it's like silk. It's Lightweight, blendable, and doesn’t look cakey even if you layer it up which is so easy to do. I have combination skin and it works really well on even my dry areas.
How Does the Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation Perform on Different Skin Tones?
Rare Beauty really nailed it with the shade range. With 48 shades, they’ve created options that cater to light, medium, deep, and rich skin tones and a wide variety of undertones. I’ve seen this work beautifully on so many different skin types on social media, and I can vouch that the shade I picked melted into my skin perfectly. I was very hesitant to choose a shade but I bought mine on spaceNK and used their matcher I am 190W. I am Chanel B30 and in healthy mix serum, I am shade 53 in that one.
Is the Foundation's Medium Coverage Buildable?
Yes! This is one of the few beauty foundations where you can customise your coverage. I usually go for a light layer for that natural makeup look, but if I have breakouts or redness, I just add a little more, and it blends like a dream. It doesn’t settle into pores or dry patches. Which is just incredible for such a breathable formula.
Does the Doe-Foot Applicator Offer Precise Application?
I know some people have mixed feelings about a doe-foot applicator but I like how mess-free and precise it is. But I can see the issues with it. Yes, it is less messy to get out but I am not sure how this will work with the last bits of the foundation and I find it can be a bit annoying. sometimes it brings out a lot of product and there is no way it's going back in once it's out.
How Does Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Define Beauty in the Industry?
Selena’s brand feels so genuine. It’s about self-expression and embracing your natural beauty not hiding it. I love this concept, as someone who has had a facial birthmark since birth I love that. Rare Beauty isn’t chasing perfection, and that shows in the way this foundation enhances skin without masking it. That’s rare (pun intended) in the beauty industry. our flaws are what make us interesting and unquiet and I like that she is embracing that not another let's hide behind a full beat kinda gal.
What is the Brand Philosophy Behind Rare Beauty?
Rare Beauty promotes confidence, mental health awareness, and inclusivity. It’s cruelty-free, vegan, and aims to be accessible while offering pro-level performance. The packaging is ergonomic and great for those with motor impairments I found this out researching this product. Love that rare beauty! Well done.
How Does Rare Beauty Contribute to the Beauty Industry?
This isn’t just another celeb beauty brand. Rare Beauty is raising the bar by launching products that combine skincare benefits with makeup performance. Their Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer and Soft Pinch Liquid Blush are cult faves and for good reason. They're skin-like, blend beautifully, and stay put. I really wish people wouldn't put this brand in with every other celebrity brand this one is different in my opinion. If Selena had launched this without her endorsing it, it would still be just as good and worthy of the hype.
What Other Rare Beauty Products Complement the Foundation?
Pair the foundation with the Liquid Touch Foundation Brush or a damp sponge for a seamless finish. They recommend using their Always An Optimist Pore Diffusing Primer and Soft Pinch Liquid Blush for a full-face look that’s radiant, not greasy. Finish with their Setting Spray for a long-lasting effect.
First time using Rare Beauty's Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation?
From the moment you apply it, it’s like second skin. It glides on effortlessly, blends like butter, and dries to a natural, dewy finish. It doesn’t clog or cake, and it honestly just feels good to wear. It is very easy to apply to which is nice and there is the right amount of dry down time making it easy to blend and work with.
How Does the Foundation's Texture Compare to a Serum?
It’s not just marketing, this really does feel like a serum it's very light. It’s weightless, breathable, and leaves your skin feeling smooth and hydrated. The texture makes it perfect for layering without ever looking thick. Honestly this is the nearest to just feeling like a serum I have in my kit at the moment.
Is the Foundation Suitable for Sensitive Skin Types?
I’ve got combination skin with the occasional flare-up, and this foundation has never irritated me. It’s non-comedogenic, cruelty-free, and free from parabens, making it a solid choice if you’re sensitive or breakout-prone. I love this foundation for my skin. You all know I struggle with foundations.
Does the Foundation's Long-Lasting Formula Live Up to the Hype?
It absolutely does. I’ve worn this on long days on the mountian bike and it stays in place without breaking down or looking patchy. No matter what I throw at it it seems to hold up. A little goes a long way, and it keeps your skin looking fresh all day.
How Does Rare Beauty's Foundation Cater to Diverse Skin Tones?
The 48 shades are broken down by depth and undertone, making it easier to find your match. SpaceNK where I bought mine, have tools to help you shade match if you’re unsure.
What is the Range of Shades Available in Rare Beauty's Foundation?
There are 48 shades, from the fairest to the deepest tones, with options for warm, cool, neutral, and olive undertones. It’s one of the most inclusive shade ranges I’ve seen. Which is just great. I am 190w which is light-medium with warm undertones.
What are the Pros and Cons of the Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation?
Pros:
-
Lightweight, serum-like texture
-
Buildable medium coverage
-
Doesn’t clog pores or cake
-
48 inclusive shades
-
Doe-foot applicator for precision
-
Cruelty-free and vegan
-
Long-lasting and breathable
Cons:
-
May need setting for oily skin
-
Not ideal for those who prefer full coverage
How Does the Foundation Compare to Other Brands?
Compared to Chanel or NARS, this one feels more like skincare-meets-makeup. It’s not as matte as Chanel or as radiant as NARS Sheer Glow, it strikes a perfect in-between for a natural look.
How much does it cost?
I bought mine for £29 but there are always discount codes flying about so make sure to check for some before you order. I always check for Sephora discounts before I order and normally you can find one.
My Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup is normally £48 and the only place I have had a discount on this was in Andorra where is a tax fee so I think it's a good price. It's on the lower / mid end of UK beauty products.
Final Thoughts: My Rare Beauty Review
This is now my go-to beauty foundation right now. When I first tried it I used Charlotte Tilbery flawless filter under it and I did not like the result and I was disappointed and I was like this is awful but it turned out for me, that these too just don't pair well for me. I then gave it another go with drunk elephant bronzing drops underneath and oh my gosh, This changed the game I instantly fell head over heels for this liquid foundation.
My routine, is a good SFP moisturiser, drunk elephant bronze drops then Rare Beauty foundation and conceal, contour etc and Charlotte Tilbury setting spray and this is my dream my skin but better. It is just good at evening out skin tone and it's long lasting.
It’s everything I wanted in a base: breathable, smooth, natural-looking, and hydrating. If you want a foundation that combines the weightless feel of a serum with buildable medium coverage, this one’s for you. It will be one I will be keeping in my kit for those light to medium coverage days.
Let me know if you've tried it or what your shade is! don't forget to check my other reviews.
