Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation Review - MissLJBeauty

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation Review

I remember that Bourjois's healthy mix serum foundation was my go-to back in the day when it first arrived on the beauty scene. I remember the marketing was on point with what I was looking for in a foundation at the time. I was always a more my skin but better kinda gal. I knew I had to try this borjois product. I wore this foundation for years as my go-to. I loved the finish, and this was my favourite. I have combination skin, and it worked like a dream for me.

But it was discontinued in the UK, and my heart was broken. This is when I moved over to my Chanel Vitalumière Aqua.  Chanel used to own Bourjois but sold the company to Coty.

Anyways, it is back, and it has been reformulated. It is still a favourite of mine. Let's talk about it, shall we?

What is Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation?

It is a light-coverage foundation with a light, runny texture, promising a natural finish that lasts throughout the day without drying out the skin. Unlike heavier coverage foundations like Estée Lauder Double Wear, this formula is ideal for those who prefer a breathable, comfortable base that enhances rather than masks the skin. This is a your skin but better foundation.

Why is this foundation gaining popularity?

Many makeup lovers and beauty bloggers have raved about how well this Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation works, especially for those with combo skin like mine or dry areas. It’s also been gaining traction because of its reasonable price of £10.99 for a product that delivers a radiant, healthy complexion.

Who is it suitable for?

  • Dry skin: The formula hydrates without clinging to dry patches.

  • Combo skin: It balances oiliness while keeping skin looking fresh.

  • Oily skin: It’s lightweight but may require setting powder for longevity.

  • Those who love a natural look: If you want an even complexion with a subtle glow, this one’s for you.

Key Features and Benefits

What are the main ingredients?

It contains vitamin complexes C, E and B5 for an anti-oxidant effect. The texture of a serum, enriched with cranberry extract, a natural anti-wrinkle which tones and plumps the skin, combined with the medium coverage of a vegan and clean foundation for a visibly even and luminous complexion.

How does it differ from other foundations?

Unlike some full coverage or heavier coverage foundations, this one provides a medium coverage with a serum-like texture that feels ultra-light on the skin.

What skin benefits does it offer?

  • Hydration: Thanks to its serum-infused formula, it keeps the skin moisturized.

  • Radiance: The vitamin-rich formula helps enhance the skin’s glow.

  • Long-lasting wear: It can last a good day without drying the skin out.

Application and Wear

How to apply for the best results?

I always start with primed skin. A good moisturiser and hydrating primer.

To get the coverage you need while maintaining a natural look, start with a small amount of product and build as needed. I use my finders to gently apply this to the skin for an even complexion. I find this the best way for me.

What tools are recommended for application?

  • Brush to apply for a flawless finish.

  • Sponge for a dewy, skin-like finish.

  • Fingertips for light coverage.

How long does it last on the skin?

While it’s not marketed as a full-coverage or long-wearing foundation, it lasts a good 6-8 hours without fading, especially when set with powder, but it is not a long wearing option.

My Review

What do I think about the texture?

I love the serum texture because it’s lightweight and easy to apply. It does have a scent, a fruity scent. I do wish skin products would leave this out as it's not necessary, and it stops some people from being able to use the product.

How does it feel on the skin?

It feels fresh, a little hydrating but also slightly cakey, but this does pass quickly. It is a strange texture.  it does blend down and evens out your complexion without settling into fine lines. which is great but it is a strange new formula.

Comparisons with Other Foundations

How does it compare to other Bourjois foundations?

Compared to the original Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, the serum version is more lightweight and hydrating, but to be honest, I am not in love with this like I used to be. I think the formula is completely different. It just doesn't work as well for me. I get some gathering after a few hours and the coverage is a bit bla. I find that after a few hours, I notice it clinging to my imperfections. I know this might be due to me aging, but I am just not wowed by it anymore.

What are the differences with similar products from other brands?

  • Chanel Vitalumière Aqua is just a better lightweight option but it is spendy.

  • L’Oréal True Match has a similar glow but is less hydrating.

  • Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth It has a Comparable radiance but not as smooth.

What makes it stand out in the market?

Its serum-infused formula and skin-nourishing ingredients make it a unique option for those who want a breathable, radiant base.

Final thoughts

Is Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation worth trying?

Maybe! If you’re after a natural, lightweight, and hydrating foundation, this is one to try it might work better for you, but this is not my favourite, and I do think there are better opinions out there. It might just be one for the history books and maybe not the bathroom make-up counter.

Who would enjoy this product the most?

  • if you like a fresh, healthy glow.

  • Those who prefer light to medium coverage.

  • Anyone looking for a budget-friendly, vitamin-rich foundation.

  • If you are looking for a vegan formula

Final thoughts and recommendations

I really miss the old formula, which was a cheaper version of the Chanel Aqua. It was good for those who like a radiant, skin-like finish. I am just not sure this is the product it was. I wanted a tint that would last all day and give me a radiant glow without the need for concealer, and that is just not this anymore. I remember this having Goji berries, but this doesn't seem to be in the formula anymore, and I do wonder how much has been altered since they removed this from the UK market.  I am shocked by the lack of shade in this range too. It need a major revamp before I will be repurchcing it. Looks like my hunt for a good foundation that makes my skin better continues.

you haven’t tried Bourjois foundations yet; this one’s definitely worth a go!
