Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo Review Is It Worth It?

As A woman who spends her time working out and has fine hair, I am a self-confessed dry shampoo devotee. I have been using dry shampoo for as long as I can remember and I rely on it properly too much. My fine hair gets greasy so quickly it should be a crime. It is the most annoying thing in the world and I am always looking for a way to postpone washing my hair.

I’m always on the lookout for the next big thing in hair care. Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot of hype about the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo, so of course, I had to try it out for myself. But with a price tag of £23 for 198ml, is it really worth the investment? That is a lot more than I normally pay for dry shampoo. But everyone is hyping this one up big time. So you know I needed to put it to the test. I do really like Living Proof as a brand they have really good products and they do their research into ingredients and seem to really care.

What is Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo?

Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day (PHD) Dry Shampoo promises to do more than just mask oil and sweat. It claims to actually clean your hair without water, leaving it looking, feeling, and smelling refreshed. Which is a very bold claim indeed.  This product is marketed as a game-changer for those of us who want to extend the time between washes without compromising on cleanliness or style.

What Makes Living Proof Different?

Ingredients and Formulation

  • Patented Healthy Hair Molecule (OFPMA): This innovative ingredient is designed to repel dirt and oil, helping your hair stay cleaner for longer.

  • Fast-Absorbing Powders: These powders work quickly to absorb grease and sweat, leaving your hair refreshed and lightweight.

  • Fragrance: A subtle and clean scent with a slightly fruity undertone that is not overpowering.

  • Free From Harmful Additives: The formula is talc-free and paraben-free, making it a safer choice for your hair.

  • Contains Alcohol: While effective in reducing oil, alcohol can be drying for some scalps, so it’s worth noting if you have sensitivity.

What Are the Key Ingredients in This Dry Shampoo?

The magic behind Living Proof’s formula lies in its patented Healthy Hair Molecule, OFPMA. This molecule is designed to repel dirt and oil while keeping your hair cleaner for longer. It also contains fast-absorbing powders to soak up grease and sweat.

How Does the Formula Work?

The fast-absorbing powders in the formula act quickly to remove oil and sweat, while the OFPMA creates a barrier that keeps dirt at bay. The result they claim is Hair that feels cleaner and stays fresher for days.

Are There Any Controversial Ingredients?

While this product is free of talc and parabens, it does contain alcohol, a common ingredient in dry shampoos that can be drying for some scalps. If you’re sensitive to alcohol or fragrances, it’s something to keep in mind. Until researching for this hair day dry shampoo review I didn't consider that there would be alcohol in this formulation.

Application and Use

How Do You Apply Living Proof Dry Shampoo?

To use,  You need to shake the can vigorously and hold it 6-10 inches away from dry hair yes further than you would think. Section your hair and spray directly onto the roots This is a dry spray and you are holding it too close if you get wetness. Think of a sweeping motion when spraying.

Wait 30 seconds to let the product work its magic, then massage it in with your fingers until there is no visible residue and brush it through to help with the products distribution all over the hair.

How Long Does It Take to Work?

The formula starts working immediately, but for best results, you’ll want to give it those crucial 30 seconds to absorb oil and sweat before styling. You need to let it work. This way it will leave your hair looking and feeling clean.

Performance and Results

How Well Does It Absorb Oil?

This dry shampoo truly excels at absorbing oil. Even on day 3 hair, it left my roots looking significantly less greasy. I was impressed with how clean my hair felt without needing a full wash.

Does It Leave a Residue?

Unlike many dry shampoos, Living Proof’s formula doesn’t leave behind a visible white residue. However, if you spray too close or apply too much, you might notice a slight powdery finish. A quick brush-through resolves this easily. But I would mention I feel this is a heavier formula than my current favourite the Loreal elvive dream lengths. I can feel it on my scalp.

How Does It Affect Hair Texture and Volume?

This product makes your hair feel clean, but it also adds a noticeable boost of volume to my thin limp hair.  My hair felt thicker and easier to style, which was a nice surprise. It gives it a bit more grip which is handy if you are doing any styling.

Fragrance and Sensitivity

What Does It Smell Like?

The fragrance is clean with a slightly fruity undertone. I Find it a little overpowering to begin with then it fades if you don't like the scent this one won't be for you as you can smell it until you wash your hair. It is not a bad smell but if I am wanting to wear a nice perfume I would rather it was a bit more subtle.

Comparative Analysis

How Does It Compare to Other Dry Shampoos?

The Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo offers a more thorough clean and leaves hair feeling lighter and fresher in a way but is that worth the price tag to you? Yes the formula is better for your hair and if you have the money then it is a great option but in haircare I am not sure this is where you should be splurging if you are on a budget.

Is It Worth the Price Compared to Alternatives?

At £23 for the perfect hair day advance clean for a full-size can, it’s for sure, on the pricier side. However, considering the results and how little product you need per use I do think it is a great option if you have the budget.

Final Thoughts on and My Review

Who Would Benefit Most from This Product?

You know when I do a dry shampoo review I am going to really put it to the test for you and the hair day advanced clean dry shampoo is no different. I have now bought two bottles of this for styling my hair and I like the application, bottle and that there doesn't appear to be any residue on my hair after I use it. It makes my hair feel clean and more importantly look clean, even after a cardio session. I was on the fence when putting this product to test and review just because of the price tag. But I tried to put that aside and focus on the product and if I would recommend it to you.

The facts are this dry shampoo is perfect for anyone who wants to extend their time between washes without compromising on cleanliness or style. It’s especially great for those with fine or oily hair who struggle with grease buildup. I really did like this product It does give me the freedom to wash my hair less which I love. It leaves my hair clean. I would say if you have fine hair like me this is a good dry shampoo. A bottle lasted me around 4 months and I used it say once a week.

One of its stand out results that you might not think about is odor control. Say you have been in a smelly environment like a party, I am trying to think of example for you, say you work in catering you know when you can smell outside odors on your hair. This dry shampoo is the best I have found at actually removing them not just masking them so that is a great factor. Where I find cheaper ones just mask the scent. There is something special in the power here.

I forgot to mention I have used it to style my hair for events and it helps to give this fine hair gal a bit of a post. Especially after blow drying all my fine hair girls know what I mean here. If you are a lover of dry shampoo I would recommend this product and see what you think.

Is It Worth the Investment for Your Hair Care Routine?

In my opinion, maybe. While the price may seem steep, the results are good. It’s a great option for those who want a high-performing product that delivers on its promises but there are good cheaper alternatives on the market too.

Would You Recommend It to Others?

Yes But the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo is a fantastic upgrade. I am not sure if this is the upgrade you need in your hair care routine. I just don't know.

For me, it’s a beauty staple and worth the investment but I am not sure I can say this for all hair types if your scalp or hair can use a cheaper product and get the same result I would go with that.
