Over the years I have really struggled with my colour-treated hair. It made my hair frazzled. I have spent hundreds of pounds over the years with all the products I have tried to bring my hair back to some state of healthy hair. But hair healthy is a long game we all know that. I have watched hours of customer reviews and read so many differing opinions on what to use on my bleached fine hair. I can not for the life of me remember who told me about This shampoo but alas I found it and ordered it. I remember trying to choose between this one and Pureology Hydrate but settled on this strengthening shampoo for my dry hair. With all my research I did read that sulphate-free for a gentle clean was the best way to go.

My hair might be fine but there is lots of it. I don't suffer from any kind of scalp issues well not at the moment but never say never. I tie my hair up too much but I never use heat on my hair. I have dry ends and super straight unfortunately not curly hair in any way. I do use a purple toning shampoo which can be really drying but I need to tone brassy hair in between colours.  I do however mountain bike so do get mud in it. Just to be completely honest with you all. So you know what I am dealing with. 

I have been using this shampoo off and on for more than two years now and I feel I can give my thoughts on this product and tell you if it is really worth your money and so you can learn more about the product and see whether it is the right product for you.

It has excellent moisturizing properties. It’s enriched with a blend of nourishing ingredients, including a powerful and unique blend of proteins, which deeply hydrate and repair. This helps to restore moisture balance, leaving hair soft, smooth, and more manageable with a healthy shine which is incredible for a sulfate-free shampoo. My dry blonde hair needs all the moisture it can get. I have never raved about a shampoo but my gosh this one kicks ass at adding moisture and leaving my hair no longer feeling crispy. 

How to Use Pureology the Shampoo Effectively?

What is the recommended application process?

To get the best results here is what I do,

1. Wet Hair Thoroughly: Start by thoroughly wetting your hair with warm water.
2. Apply Shampoo: Dispense a small amount into your palms and work it into a lather. This is important. I never knew you were meant to do this until I watched How to Wash Your Hair vid. A little goes a long way about a 5p worth. 
3. Massage Gently: Apply the shampoo to your scalp and hair, massaging gently with your fingertips to cleanse stimulate and concentrate on the scalp. 
4. Rinse Well: Rinse thoroughly with warm water, ensuring all the shampoo is washed out. It takes around one minute to really get the product out of your hair,
5. Repeat: I always double-wash for extra cleansing, lather, and rinse again this helps with an oily scalp. My scalp feels cleaner if I do this. 
6. Follow Up:  follow with Pureology Strength Cure Conditioner or the product of your choice. 

This method ensures a thorough cleanse while preserving your hair’s moisture and strength. I never wash my hair every day as I find it would cause my hair to get oily quickly. 

How often should you use this shampoo for optimal results?

I use it 2-3 times a week, Every other day. This helps maintain your hair's strength and moisture balance while preventing over-cleansing. Over-cleansing is just as bad as not washing your hair at all.  Adjust based on your hair type and needs to ensure your locks stay healthy and vibrant without stripping natural oils. We are all different your hair might not need as many washes as mine. 

Can it be used on all hair types?

 Yes, it is suitable for all hair types, including colour-treated and fragile hair. Its gentle, sulphate-free formula strengthens and moisturises without stripping natural oils. Whether your hair is fine, thick, curly, or straight, this shampoo provides effective care and protection, promoting overall hair health. I find it very hydrating so that is worth noting if you are one the oily side I would add an additional detox product once a week. 

Is the Shampoo Worth the Investment?

Absolutely! This sulfate free shampoo is worth every penny.  I have never repurchased a product like I do with this one. I knew when I started using this that it was going to be in my rotation for good.  It offers a unique blend of strengthening and moisturising benefits, perfect for my damaged and colour-treated hair. Its sulphate-free formula ensures gentle cleansing while enhancing shine and resilience. If you’re looking to invest in high-quality hair care that delivers noticeable results, this is a great choice it keeps my hair clean and more importantly more manageable. 

What is the price point, and how does it compare to competitors?

Pureology strength cure Shampoo and conditioner typically ranges from £25 to £30 for a 250ml bottle, which places it on the higher end of the market compared to other shampoos. While it’s pricier than some drugstore brands, its sulphate-free vegan formula, nourishing ingredients, and effectiveness in strengthening and colour-protecting your hair justify the cost. Compared to competitors, especially premium brands, Pureology often offers more targeted benefits for damaged and colour-treated hair, making it a worthwhile investment. 

My final thoughts and review

So, I’ve been using Pureology Strength Cure Shampoo for a while now, and honestly, I think it’s my favourite shampoo. It’s nasty free for a gentle cleanse, which is perfect for my color-treated hair. I was a bit hesitant at first due to the hype I am always sceptical, but after diving into some Pureology Strength Cure Shampoo reviews, it felt like a no-brainer to buy Pureology Strength Cure. gosh, it’s worth every penny! The moisturising shampoo keeps my shoulder length hair from drying out. This shampoo smells absolutely delightful! I mean really really good. But is not overly scented either. I love this as it pairs well with a leave-in conditioner. This does not dry out my hair out in any way at all. It just added the right level of hydration without weighing it down.  I can't find this level of hydration near this on a shampoo. You need to try this product and decide whether this one or Pureology hydrate sheer is the best match for you. I am not sure if I will ever try that one as I am so in love with this product. It just works and smells great if you know me you will know smell is so important to me. 

My hair started to feel so much healthier after I tried Pureology, and paired with the shampoo and conditioner set, it really matched my needs. I’ve also seen some reviews to verify trustworthiness on the strength cure blonde version, and I might give that a go next. The shine of the shampoo is just incredible and the condition of my hair after using this for a few months is leaps and bounds above anything else. If you’re on the fence about a non conditioning shampoo, this one is definitely a winner for hair especially if you’re looking to keep it vibrant and healthy! It's especially good for people with damaged hair like me I would really recommend this line from Pureology.
