Botox in a Bottle A Review of The Ordinary's 10% Argireline Solution and Matrixyl 10% + HA

I have been testing out the coveted duo of viral skincare products from The Ordinary for some time now. Yes, I am talking about the 10% Argireline Solution and Matrixyl 10% + HA Often referred to as "Botox in a bottle," these serums promise to deliver youthful, radiant skin without the need for injections. Yes, I was taken in by the Tiktoks to buy this duo and put them to the test. If I am honest I was very sceptical but never one to shy away from a good challenge, especially in the name of skincare. I want to share my findings with you all. Let's start with what these products are.

What is Argireline 10%?

Argireline is a peptide that works by inhibiting muscle movement, similar to how Botox works. This helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the eyes and forehead. The Ordinary's 10% Argireline Solution is lightweight and water-based, making it easy to incorporate into any skincare routine.

What is Matrixyl 10% + HA?

Matrixyl is another powerful peptide that stimulates collagen production, which helps to firm the skin and smooth out wrinkles. The Ordinary’s Matrixyl 10% + HA is combined with hyaluronic acid to provide deep hydration, making it a fantastic anti-aging solution.

My Experience with The Ordinary's 10% Argireline Solution

I've been using the 10% Argireline Solution for a few months now, I actually think close to a year on and off, I must say, I'm quite impressed. The serum is incredibly lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. I apply it twice daily, focusing on my forehead and around 11 lines between my eyes where I have the most noticeable frown fine lines.

Within a few weeks, I started to notice a subtle but definite reduction in the depth of my wrinkles. This is a long game product and you need to be consistent for it to work. I notice if I am religious about application My forehead looks smoother, and the lines around my eyes are less pronounced. It's not a miracle cure, but it's certainly made a difference. I am impressed with the results. But consistency is key.

My Experience with The Ordinary's Matrixyl 10% + HA

The Matrixyl 10% + HA serum has become a staple in my nighttime routine. The texture is slightly thicker than the Argireline Solution, but it still absorbs beautifully into the skin. I apply it after cleansing and toning and Argireline then follow it up with my usual moisturizer.

Over time, I've noticed my skin feels firmer and more hydrated. The combination of Matrixyl and hyaluronic acid really plumps up the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. I've also seen a reduction in the fine lines around my mouth and eyes. Where I apply this and not Argireline. I am happy with the result for the price of this product.

How to Use Argireline and Matrixyl Together

If you're looking to get the best results, you can use both serums in your skincare routine. Here's how I do it:
  • Cleanse: Start with a gentle cleanser to remove any makeup and impurities.
  • Tone: Use a toner to balance your skin's pH levels
  • Argireline 10% Solution: Apply a few drops to your forehead and around your eyes.
  • Matrixyl 10% + HA: Follow up with a few drops of Matrixyl all over your face.
  • Moisturize: Finish with your favourite moisturizer to lock in hydration.
Using these serums together has given me a noticeable improvement in my skin's texture and appearance. They complement each other well and target different aspects of ageing, making them a powerful duo. I have to agree with the hype of these products you have to remember they are under £20 for two. They also last me around 3-5 months on average so the value for money is wonderful.

Finals thoughts
The Ordinary's 10% Argireline Solution and Matrixyl 10% + HA are fantastic additions to any anti-ageing skincare routine. While they may not replace professional Botox treatments, they offer a non-invasive, affordable alternative that can significantly improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They have kept me away from trying Botox I am not saying I never will but with this, I am staying away for now.

I highly recommend giving these serums a try if you're looking for effective anti-ageing solutions. They’ve worked wonders for me, and I’m confident they can do the same for you. You just have to be consistent and remember to do them daily. It's all about the long game here not the quick wins.

I hope you found this review helpful. Have you tried The Ordinary’s Argireline or Matrixyl.
