It is very cold at the moment it is the midst of winter and I think we are all feeling it. I am here in the Scottish Highlands it has been cold since October and it is pretty relentless. So it is the perfect time to talk about the best insulated jacket I have ever owned. I am a very outdoorsy person I spend a lot of time mountain biking and hiking I am the perfect person to put a jacket to the test. I have just returned from Throng La Pass in Nepal the highest hiking pass in the world. Where I really put this jacket to the test.
So let's talk about the Helly Hansens Women's Verglas Polar Down Jacket.
The Women's Verglas Polar Down Jacket is hands down the best on the market at keeping me warm. I was staying at Thorog La base camp in Nepal at -20 and I was very toasty wearing this jacket. But equally, I have been wearing this all winter here in the UK. It is perfect for dog walks here in the winter and I would wear it skiing too.
What Helly Hansen says about the Women's Verglas Polar Down Jacket
We used 800-fill power because higher fill power jackets perform for athletes like hikers, climbers, and skiers who need lightweight down jackets for mobility and warmth. With its impressive fill count and a strategic box-wall construction, this is the warmest down jacket we’ve ever created, with the exception of the bespoke jackets we made for the Everest expedition team. Not only does the construction eliminate cold spots, we’ve added a down-filled collar and a shock-cord to keep the cold out
Sizing
This jacket is bulky there is no way around this it is a big jacket that is not slimline but when you are looking for the best-insulated jacket you need a bit of bulk. I am a UK size 6 and this is XS I would say this is around the UK. I do have room in it and I can wear a lot of layers if I want to really stack up but I haven't done this as this Verglas Polar Down Jacket is so warm you just don't need them.

My review of the Helly Hansen Women'Verglas Polar Down Jackets
I am head over heels in love with this jacket. I have put this to a bigger test than most people. I totally understand not many people head up Thorong la Pass at 5,416 meters high but I have to say up there this jacket was a lifesaver. It was so warm and easy to put on. I know what you are thinking but when your hands are that cold at -20 odd you need to have something super easy to put on and warm you up instantly and this did that and more. I was going to sleep in this if my sleeping bag wasn't up to scratch. Verglas jacket insulation quality is the best I have ever had.
I really like the look of this jacket, Yes I said it is bulky but to be completely honest I am not sure how it isn't bigger, It is so warm it could be double as thick as it is now and I would still love it. I have worn it in the rain and it has held up too. It is good a be a windstopper too. It is the best all-round extreme weather jacket I have ever owned and I have owned a few polar women's jackets in my time.
The Verglas Polar Down Jacket packs down really small which is perfect if you are looking to take it hiking camping etc. It is also so lightweight and breathable which I wasn't expecting. It is lovely and comfy to wear and is the best jacket for keeping me warm whether at extreme altitudes or here in the Scottish highlands.
I hope you found this review of the Helly Hansen Women Verglas Polar Down Jacket helpful.
