This weeks round up with #Project365 8th -14th January

This year I want to bring back older content. I kinda got out of the habit of actually writing about myself and my life. As well as my likes and dislikes of products. So I have already started to review products I love and bring them back. It is time to bring back weekly updates on what I am up to. I am not sure anyone will be that interested in this little highlander life but I want to be more accountable about putting up content.  So I have joined up with some other wonderful bloggers to do Project 365 where you share your year with your audience.

This week has been a super hard one for me. I have been a little poorly and put on new medication but I did try to make the most of it.

Monday

I had an appointment with my doctor. I had a little lump that needed to be checked and It was all fine so that was good but since I was in there it was time to try some new medication. Long story short this is where my week went downhill pretty fast. These tablets I was out on have left me feeling very poorly. I feel dizzy, have no energy and like I have the flu. As you can imagine with the amount of training I do as a mountain bike athlete this was not ideal at all.

Tuesday

Today was a complete write-off. I was so out of it on the new meds that all I managed was to was laze on the couch and edit some photos I did some blog writing and I had to rest. I have never felt this bad on medication before.

Wednesday

Myself and my husband went to Fort William to go out on our mountain bikes I have a campaign to shoot. We turned up to get on the bike in -5 and my dropper post froze so we couldn't go biking. For the non-bikers reading this, the dropper post is what makes the seat go up and down and you can not bike with it all the way down as you couldn't pedal up the hills. So that was very disappointing as it was one of the only non-over-caste days we have had this week. So we went out for lunch and took our two dogs for a walk got our shopping and headed home. If you are new here I live 40 miles around 1 hour drive to Fort Willam each way. This is where our supermarket etc is.

Mylo had the Vet which is of course in Fort William at 2pm. I am a very over-cautious dog mum and I am proud of it. He has a lump on his back that I wanted to be checked. Mylo is terrified of the vets. So he did have to sit on my husband's knee until his appointment. he is 28kg and thinks he is the smallest dog in the world. The sample she got from the lump didn't look as she expected so she is going to get it tested in the lab. Mylo is 10 in April and I would rather have him checked for anything I am concerned about. He already has a thyroid issue which he is on daily meds for. But he is a very fit dog and loves nothing more than to come out with the bikes with us.

On the way home my husband wanted to stop to take some photos at Glenfinnan. He does all my photography for the mountain biking and really enjoys photography.

Thursday

I was still struggling with the medication but I had to give training a go. I try to average between 100 and 150 miles a week to maintain my fitness level. Today I Did 30 miles on Zwift 20 on a Zwift Academy race and 10 cool down. I wasn't at my best feeling the effect of the meds. Other than training it was a normal day of blogging and looking after my dogs.

Friday.

We headed back to Fort William to try to shoot the mountain biking campaign but it was far too dark and overcast to do any shooting. I was really struggling today with dizziness so we only did 8 miles which is very unheard of for us. After competing in Yak Attack the world's hardest and highest mountain bike race in the world in Nepal in November/ December over the Annapurna circuit.  I am at my fittest which is why I am even more shocked at how tablets can affect your body.

Found a fabulous cafe in Fort William the Corpach marina. Now I go to a lot of cafes and I think there has been a bit of laziness in the highlands where standards are slipping so when I find a good one I want to shout about it to the world and this one is fantastic. Hugo had the chicken tika flatbread and I had the veggie one. Look how loaded the plate was with food. This is not the norm anymore and it was so good. If I was to be picky I would say Hugos was the better one as the chicken was incredible. Why cant more cafes be like here. I do have to warn you if you do go it is very small but so worth it.

Saturday

Super busy day My husband was out training on the lifeboat and I did 40 miles training on Zwift. Then I did lots of editing and researching online. I also did a big house clean and far too much washing. The weather this week hasn't really gotten above 0 and it has been a bit too cold for the dogs to go out too much. You have to watch their paws on the really cold ground. So today was all about house play and a little stroll.

Sunday

Today has been all about training I did another Zwift session of 28 miles and Then it was blog admin and writing this. I also did more washing and cleaning the house. Which feels never-ending at the moment. Hugo my husband is away with work today but home tonight.

I hope you enjoyed my little update on what I got up to this week.

  1. Lovely to have you join Project 365. It's nice to hear about your life. We did a roadtrip in Scotland in the summer, although didn't manage to make it up to Fort William, just too much driving to fit everything I wanted into the 6 days. Hope the medication impact is improving.
