Today is a good day. Why you ask? because we are talking cake. Yes, I went there we are talking about cake. It is one of my favourite treats. I love cake, I have always loved cakes and to be honest, I like to think of myself as a cake connoisseur. Forget Paul Hollywood It's Laura from MissLJBeauty you have to worry about. I mean could my job as a blogger get any better than to have to talk about one of my favourite subjects with you all. I know what you are thinking. I always talk about my favourite subjects but cake is just on another level to me. Lots of people like chocolate and yes I do to but there really is nothing better than a slice of cake as a cheeky afternoon treat.
So today we have a very exciting post today as I have had the pleasure to review some cakes. The lovely people over at Deliciously Guilt free have sent me a selection of their cakes to review for you all. Who am I not jump at the chance to talk cake with you all.
First, why are Deliciously Guilt-free different?
They are a low card and keto bakery hence the name Deliciously guilt-free. I mean could they be more up my street. They bake everything from cakes to biscuits. We all know I am a fitness but and love to live a healthy lifestyle where I can. They post throughout the UK but do check before ordering that this includes your area.
What they say
"We know just how hard it can be finding treats when you are on low sugar, low carb or keto diet. We love eating low carb, but we are only human, and sometimes we just missed bread, or biscuits or cakes. In fact, this is what led us to start making our keto cakes three years ago."
The box is called The Favourites" Mixed Box 8 this contains
- 2 x Blueberry and lemon drizzle cake - 2g net carbs per cake
- 2 x Peanut Butter Brownie - 2.95g net carbs per brownie
- 2x Salted caramel blondie - 1.1g net carbs per blondie
- 2x Chocolate fudge brownie - 1.4g net carbs per brownie
First up I tried the Blueberry and lemon drizzle cake which has 2g net carbs per cake. This was moist and fruity with a hint of lemon. It was the right amount of sweet without being overpowering and the balance of fruit to sponge was the right amount and I found the size a perfect about to curb my sweet tooth without being too much.
Next up was the Peanut Butter Brownie which has 2.95 net cards per brownie This was I first tried cold. It was very nice and chocolatey. The peanut flavouring came from the top layer. I really liked the swirl pattern on this cake. It is a game-changer to heat this up with cream. Do it you will thank me. It is like it was made for this reason. It became even better and the chocolate became creamers with the added cream worth it.
Thirdly Salted caramel blondie which has 1.1g net carbs per blondie. This one is the most unique of the bunch. I really want to expect the flavour of this one. Yes I know that sounds strange but most salted caramel tastes kinda like toffee that's burnt. Do you know what I mean. This one tastes in a whole other world. It is so moreish you will be licking the plate. It is the best caramel I have had in a long time. It is more like old fashioned caramel and it is a joy to eat.
Lastly, we have the Chocolate fudge brownie which is 1.4g net carbs per brownie. Also, know as the one I had to wrestle out my husband's hands so I could try it. First, we sampled it cold. It was brownie heaven chocolatey and gooey and moreish but like its peanut brownie brother this became a whole other world of heaven when it was heated and cream was added. Why oh Why was my husband about when the postie delivered these? I mean I am all for sharing but not when they are this good. Ok, I am joking kind of but these are heaven for any sweet-toothed person like me.
If you are looking for a sweet treat that you don't have to feel guilty about eating I can not recommend Deliciously Guilt Free enough. They really are lovely and so tasty. I would recommend them to anyone and they would make a cracking gift for a loved one. (hint husband if you are reading this). I think anyone would love these whether they follow a low carb or keto diet or not. I mean who would not love the gift of tasty cakes through the mailbox.
