Self Care Tips for Overcoming Abuse
When you leave an abusive relationship, the long-lasting effects can stay with you for years afterwards. Once you have left your partner, friend or family member behind, it can be hard to find courage and strength when moving on.
Claiming from the CICA scheme is one way to find funding in order to move on. This can be done to find a new home, spend money on a holiday, or just invest in you. If you would rather not rehash the past, companies like CICA UK can claim on your behalf.
Once you have moved on though, what happens next? You can find yourself in hard places emotionally, especially when it comes to new relationships. This is why it’s important to practice self-care when you need it the most. Below are some tips on how you can relax, think things through and take the focus away from your past…
Take a “Me” Day
This can be as simple as taking a day off work, staying in bed and eating brownies. There really isn’t a problem with doing this. Sometimes, we need time alone with our thoughts. Watch some Netflix, take a bath and read your favourite book.
Travel
Travel is a great way to explore and clear your mind. Just 20 minutes of walking a day can help to clear the mind. So if you have a dog, why not pledge 20 minutes of walking a day – you may find that it can help order your thoughts and put you in a better mood for the rest of the week.
See Friends
Sometimes, isolation just isn’t what we need. Although alone time can be great in terms of self care, too much of it can make us feel alone. Seeing your friends is a great way to tackle this. Whether you’re out for a meal, for a few drinks, or you’re simply meeting up for a coffee, speaking with someone you love is a perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday morning.
Pamper Yourself
When things get hard, sometimes we just need a little pamper. Whether you’re painting your nails at home or visiting a spa for the weekend, pampering yourself is therapeutic and relaxing. It’s amazing what a face mask, bubble bath and body butter can do for your mood.
