Sometimes we wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and just hate what we see. For some of us, this feeling never goes away, and we spend so much time obsessing over the things we hate about our bodies that we never truly enjoy life and all the great things our bodies can do.
If you aren’t exactly in love with your looks and you want that to change, here are some simple things you can do:
Focus on the Good
No matter what you look like, no matter if you hate your bumpy nose or your wobbly thighs, there are going to be several good things about your body too. You might have beautiful blue eyes, a toned tummy or fabulously shiny hair – focus on these things instead of the few flaws you have, and you will automatically feel better.
Dress to Impress
If you’re having one of those days when you feel fat, or you think that your skin looks bad, instead of obsessing over the perceived problems, get out your makeup kit and put on your war paint. Dress in your favorite clothes and get out there. Taking the effort to groom yourself will give you an instant confidence boost that will help you to feel much happier about the way you look than you would in your ratty old sweats.
Work on Your ‘Flaws'
If you find it impossible to be happy with your looks because you feel like your arms are flabby, start working out with weights, or if you have problems accepting your body because you’re overweight, start researching healthy eating plans and changing your diet to get on top of the problem, you could even consider speaking to someone at ROXY Plastic Surgery if your problem is more difficult to deal with, but it’s having a terrible impact on your life and your self-esteem.
Retrain Your Brain
Most of us are fine just the way we are and it’s our brain that makes us think there’s something wrong with the way we look. In these circumstances, it is important to retrain the brain to be more positive about our looks. You could do this by seeing a counsellor if you have a really big problem with body image, or you could start with a simple exercise where you look in the mirror with appreciation, sending yourself positive thoughts and thinking about all the good things your body can do and how good it looks.
Stop Comparing Yourself
One of the main causes of dissatisfaction with one’s body comes from the comparisons that we all make every day. The fact is, it’s stupid to compare your body to others because there will always be someone with a flatter tummy, longer legs or bigger boobs. So, instead of comparing yourself to others, do your best to feed your body healthy foods, exercise on a regular basis and dress to suit your shape and color. This, more than anything will help you to fall in love with your body once more.
